Meet UC Irvine alum Willy Kwak, Founder Krack’d Snacks

Tell us about your company:
Krack’d Snacks is a clean-label snack company reinventing candy bars with real taste and texture, under 1g sugar, and no compromise.
What inspired you to start your business?
After nine years on keto, I was still craving sweets that actually satisfied. Every “better-for-you” snack fell short, so I started making my own. I wanted something that delivered real taste and texture with clean ingredients—and that’s how Krack’d Snacks began.
What are your proudest achievements so far?
One of my proudest achievements is how this journey has brought me closer to my family. In building Krack’d Snacks, my dad, aunt, and grandma have become part of the process—helping with everything from production to packaging to emotional support. What started as a solo venture has turned into a shared mission, and I get to celebrate the wins and navigate the hard days with the people I love most. That’s something I’ll always be proud of!
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Perfection is the enemy of momentum. I spent years obsessing over the “perfect” branding, formula, and packaging when I should’ve been focused on getting my first sale. The truth is, your brand will always evolve. What matters most early on is proving that someone wants what you’re selling. If I could do it over, I would have launched when I was 70% ready and let real-world feedback shape the rest. Building a brand is an iterative process, not a finished masterpiece on day one. Start sooner, listen closely, and refine as you go. That’s how progress happens.
