Meet USC alum Juliet Kim Blake, Founder of ginsa

Tell us about your company:
ginsa is a sparkling Korean red ginseng tonic with zero caffeine and only 20 calories from honey. We use a patented hydrolyzed Korean red ginseng extract that provides 15x the absorption at 4x the speed so you get all the benefits of the ginseng almost immediately with no bitter bite.
What inspired you to start your business?
ginsa is equal parts my love for Korean red ginseng, my two decades of beverage experience, my proud Korean roots, and my fierce will to change the narrative in this industry so that one day, sadly probably not in our lifetime though, it will be a true even playing field for Asian female leaders.
What are your proudest achievements so far?
We launched earlier this year with two major chain commitments already on the docket (prior to our commercial production run), and we recently got the happy news that we will be launching nationally with Sprouts in February 2025. And Costco!
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Contrary to what many others may say, I strongly suggest learning all about the industry you’re interested in and gaining invaluable experience to help you be as successful as possible for when you do start your own venture. I started out in the beverage industry as a brand ambassador and worked my way up every single level to SVP, Marketing before I started ginsa. It helped shortcut my startup process drastically.
Please share a memory or thought about your alma mater:
It’s been quite a while since I’ve been a student, but I will always remember and appreciate the meals I had with friends at EVK (Evil Kitchen). Do they still call it that??
