Meet U of Chicago Alum Margaret Unetich and UC Berkeley Alum Matt Ziol, Co-Founders of Amouze Mousse

Tell us about your company:
Amouze Mousse crafts chocolate mousse from local dairy and eggs delivered direct from the farm, organic sugar and high-quality chocolate. We are a French-inspired and Chicago-made. We are a woman-owned business who delivers joy one spoonful at a time.
What inspired you to start your business?
After experiencing a chocolate mousse bar in Paris, we realized there was not an easy way to enjoy a fabulous chocolate mousse whenever you would like in the U.S. We set out to change that.
What are your proudest achievements so far?
We’re proud that we’ve created a chocolate mousse that can go from the freezer to the refrigerator and still deliver a divine velvety texture, making it easy to have a great mousse always on hand.
We appreciate the support we’ve received from the French community in Chicago – we knew we were on to something when we debuted our mousse and it sold out at a French market the first evening!
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs:
Keep putting one foot in front of the other and give yourself grace that it takes time to build a business. Network and talk to others to learn and grow but also trust your instinct on what you need to do to authentically represent and grow your brand.
Please share a memory or thought about your alma mater:
Margaret loved diving into group projects with some of the most amazing minds out there, being taught and inspired by the best caliber of faculty you could get an education from and balancing the rigor with some TNDC fun.

Matt remembers getting intentionally lost in the eucalyptus forest.
